The SOLA Series

The exclusive nature of words like Alone, Solely, and Only can be difficult for som e in our western culture of inclusion.

To the Reformers, the word Alone was of great importance.

  • Scripture alone (sola Scriptura)
  • Christ alone (solus Christus)
  • Grace alone (sola gratia)
  • Faith alone (sola fide)
  • God’s glory alone (soli Deo gloria)

While the Reformers themselves did not use these five phrases, they are helpful in clarifying the doctrines which we hold today. More than 500 years ago, these teachings shook the world and led to the recovery of the gospel.
